Not to mean the end of days. Just how I plan on doing things for myself this year.
I have been really, really, neglectful of DA for I bet at least 2 years now, and I apologize to any new watchers who may or may not have noticed the frequency of my posts, art/blog/whatever. This past year, two years really, I was a full time (well really way more then full time, 45-50 hours a week) manager at a Subway in my area. It quite honestly stole a lot of my time and whenever I got home all I wanted to do was piddle and play video games. Most of my creativity was sucked out of me. So in January, I finally called it quits at Subway after working for 8 years there (counting all the time I worked there part time before my move to Atlanta, and the time I was there afterwards till now). I was hoping my creativity would come back to me after that and it kind of has, though much slower then I was expecting.
That being said I DO have a lot of plans for 2012, now that I have thrown those shackles off. Granted, already I do need a part time job again, since I do not make nearly enough in commissions as I was hoping. My first task will be to revamp www.stevenyarbrough.com . Following that or maybe during that, I hope to find a new part time to help pay my half of the bills since my wife was gracious enough to let me try this experiment out. But I know ultimately she can't for it all on her own, at least not with a lot of stuff leftover... So regardless of how long it takes me to find a new part time, I'll keep up the commissions and finally sit down and add something to those potential webcomic URLs, so they're more then just blank pages with webhosting ads all over them. I feel really bad it's been about a year since I secured the domain names and still haven't added anything.
I know I can't blame my time at Subway for everything, though it did have a huge impact on my time. Heck, I still drive past my old store and wonder who's working and how things are going. To me that's not a healthy thing really. So I'm gonna do my damnedest to try and get something different to get some steady cash back in my pocket. I do not want to get sucked in again.
In the immediate future, my wife and I are headed to Anaheim next week for WonderCon! I haven't been to Anaheim since I was like 8 so this will interesting and a little intimidating. Cause we're probably gonna have to get a rental car if we want to do anything but sit in our hotel when not at the Con, and that means driving in the Los Angeles area...Should be exciting nonetheless. I'm going to try and get into some portfolio reviews if I can. I'm hoping I get some good bites. Though I noticed all my recent works for people have been zombie related...odd.
I guess that's about it for now. Just wanted to apologize and let people know I was alive despite the lack of any real updates. I still find it sad how little pageviews I get on here, but I suppose that's just a direct result of my neglect for my personal page on here as well as active participation in the community. Part of my plans this year is to try and change that. Till next time!
